   Welcome

Peebles BeltaneMy name is Claudia Beamish and I am Labour's candidate for the next election here in Dumfriesshire, Clydesdale and Tweeddale.

My family and I have lived and worked in this part of Scotland for over 15 years and am proud to call this our home.

I work as a primary school teacher in two small rural primary schools. I am also heavily involved in our local community, and serve as Chair of the Scottish Labour Party.

The next general election will be a straight fight between Labour and the Tories - other parties won't get a look in. The choice will about how can best protect people here duing the recession, and who is best placed to help people through this difficult times.

People tell me they want a local candidate who really understands our area.

Please have a look around my website, and don't hesitate to get in touch.

Five years ago Nelson Mandela challenged world leaders to make poverty history.

"Sometimes it falls on a generation to be great"...you can be that great generation." In the UK and across the world this helped launch the Make Poverty History campaign. Find out more of what Labour has done since then at www.dfid.gov.uk/mph5years

Labour has now introduced a draft Bill to Parliament which would make our commitment to send 0.7% of gross national income on official development from 2013 legally binding. If you agree with this commitment please show your support by signing up at www.globalpovertypromise.com
