Out and about in Innerleithen -
On Wednesday the Tweeddale Labour and Co-operative team was out and about in Innerleithen, listening to shop owners' views on the High Street and knocking doors to introduce me as your candidate. Transport infrastructure, keeping jobs and bringing more to the town, training and apprenticeships and concerns about education were the main issues raised. I then enjoyed a visit to St Ronan's Well and would be working hard as your MP to support tourism in the Borders.
In my pledges I commit to working for
"jobs for the future"
"a 'living' minimum wage and support for pensioners"
"fairness coming out of recession"
"tackling climate change and poverty"
"listening to young people"
I was particularly pleased to meet and discuss issues with a number of younger voters during the visit to the town. |
