                           <description><![CDATA[Wishing everyone in Dumfriesshire Clydesdale &amp; Tweeddale a very happy, healthy, prosperous, peaceful and environmentally sustainable 2010! While my son Francis was enjoying the Street Party in Edinburgh, I spent a pleasant evening with my partner Michael and daughter Freya.  In Biggar High Street people of all ages were in positive mode and there was Ceilidh dancing.                            <description><![CDATA[Elaine Murray MSP Deputy Shadow spokesperson on the Environment and our local member, Sarah Boyack MSP Shadow Spokesperson for the Environment and Climate Change, and myself, visited Steven's Croft wood fired power station near Lockerbie, in the constituency. It is the largest biomass power station in the UK. The site is owned by E.ON UK and supplies the needs of 70,000 homes. It also displaces roughly 140,000 te of greenhouse gases, creates local jobs and makes use of rotation coppice in the fuel mix, bringing agricultural work to the area.
